How Wally Bayola Sex Scandal Video Leaked

According to Inquirer.net the internet version of Inquirer newspaper, the sex video leaked from his former laptop that was sold to Yosh Rivera in 2012. Yosh is the woman whom he had sex with on the video.

Wally Bayola is a comedian and part of the longest running noontime show in the Philippines, Eat-Bulaga.

Wally wiped out all the data in his laptop before handing it over to Yosh thinking that the sex video will not spread.

Wally already apologized to his family and to the public and got back to Eat-Bulaga last February 8, 2014.

This incident is an eye opener or a reminder in IT security. There are lots of ways of securely wiping out data in your storage mediums. This has to be done when you're transferring the ownership or even when disposing your IT storage assets.

1. The most effective ways is to smash or shred your hard drives, tape drives, flash drives, memory sticks, and etc.

2. But if you still wanted to reuse your storage hardware then I advise to you use tools such as "Secure Erase" a tool which erases your data on the disc itself though this is still much less secure than physically destroying it. We don't know, maybe in the future new utilities will come out that might probably have a feature of retrieving data even when you use tools like "Secure Erase".

This is a reminder that hackers or data thief can use or retrieved data to exploit it and might even steal money on your bank accounts.
